HIP HOP

Hip hop is an ever evolving genre of dance that has become very popular and influential among modern youth. Including many street dance styles, hip hop allows students to explore their own personal flair, find their groove and grow in confidence.

With many hip hop classes available at TDS, including some all boy or all girl classes, there is something for every student.

Hip Hop Grade Classes

Ages 6-12

Our hip hop students will learn combinations and sets choreographed to their ability in a range of different fundamental hip hop styles.

Students have the opportunity to show off their skills to an invited professional for personal feedback in term three.

Dancers will learn a show item in term four and perform on stage in our end of year concert.

  • Hip Hop Teen

    Ages 13+

    In our teen classes, students will learn dances that aim to advance their movement knowledge and develop their ability across a range of different fundamental hip hop styles.

    This is a non syllabus class.

    Dancers will learn a show item in term four and perform on stage in our end of year concert.

  • Hip Hop Skills

    Ages 10+

    This class focuses on fundamental hip hop styles of breaking, locking and popping as well as experience in nu-styles such as house. This is targeted to hip hop dancers that want to improve their knowledge and skill base.

    These are non-syllabus classes. 

    Dancers will learn a show item in term four and perform on stage in our end of year concert.

  • Adult Hip Hop

    Ages 18+

    Our adult classes cater to a variety of experience level from absolute beginner to dancers from a past life. Students will learn routines in a variety of hip hop styles.

    Our adult classes are run by concession card allowing students to explore all the geres we have to offer for adults.

  • Stomp & Groove

    Ages 4-5

    This class is a popular, high energy introduction to hip hop and its various styles using cool, kid-friendly music.

    Learning dances in class, students will experience the basics of rhythm, timing and how to groove.

    Students have the opportunity to show off their skills to an invited professional for personal feedback in term three.

    Dancers will learn a show item in term four with the opportunity of performing on stage in our end of year concert.

Extension

Our extension group program offers specially designed classes aimed at extending our most committed dancers.
